Condition

The mirror and the stand are later in date than the rest of the piece, probably 19th Century. There have been alterations to the recessed interior. The piece is generally in good condition with some minor losses, chips and cracks that come with age. "The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The two larger door panels are oak, they are flat and well preserved with only one or two minor splits. There some small restorations, to both, to replace earlier paint chips and abrasions and to reduce some discolorations to the sky. The oak panels to the drawers are equally well preserved, flat with no splits or deformations, and with only a small scattering of minor restorations to each to replace loss. The paint saturates satisfactorily but the varnish is slightly discoloured. The cabinet support is well preserved."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues.
