Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The oak panel is rigidly cradled and there are horizontal splits appearing on the centre left, 5cm, and on the right, 3cm. Otherwise, the panel is flat and secure. There are some restored losses along the bottom edge, 3 or 4 other minor restorations and the remains of an older discoloured varnish, not previously removed. Overall, the painting is in a very good original and well preserved condition. The varnish is discoloured and its removal would improve the tonality.
Offered in a modern carved gilt and painted frame, with some losses."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
