Description

  • Giacomo Van Lint
  • Vue du Tibre vers Saint Pierre de Rome
  • Huile sur toile

Condition

The actual painting is warmer in tone and more yellow than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas is relined. The paint surface suffered a bit from dryness. Some discoloured retouchings are visible in the sky as well as three spots that have been cleaned. A few scattered pinpoint paint losses are visible throughout. Otherwise the paint surface is in good condition, covered under a fine craquelure pattern and covered with a very dirty and yellowed varnish layer which has been unevenly cleaned at some places. Inspection under UV-light is impeded by the varnish layer, but some of the retouchings are slightly visible in the sky and in the architecture. The painting is offered in a decoratively carved and painted wood frame, in good condition.
