Condition

The actual painting is slightly warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas in unlined. Small paint losses are visible along the edges, especially right edge and have been retouched. Scattered spots of paint loss are visible throughout, some are filled and retouched. Otherwise the paint layer is in good condition and no damages are visible to the naked eye. The paint layer is under a clean varnish layer and an irregular and coarse craquelure pattern. UV-light inspection confirms aforesaid retouchings and reveals additional ones throughout, i.e. in the centre part of the figure, the face and legs, in the sculpture to the left as well as in the lower centre. The painting is offered in a decorate, gilt and painted wood frame, in fair condition. (JD)
