Condition
The actual painting is less red than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The canvas has a stable relining. Two tiny paint losses are visible in the centre. Otherwise, no damages are visible to the naked eye, and the paint layer seems to be in good condition. A few small retouchings can be observed in the sky centre left, and centre and upper right, and along the lower edge. The paint surface is covered with a slightly dirty and uneven layer of varnish.
Inspection under Ultra-Violet light confirms the aforementioned retouchings and reveals few additional tiny retouchings in the sea lower left, and minor strengthening in the figures.
Offered in a decorative wood frame with gilt moulded fillets, with a few tiny losses. (MW)
