Catalogue Note

This work may be compared with a portrait of a young man in oriental dress which Sumowksi dates to the artist's late period.1 Both works are portrait historié representations of the sitters holding the same attributes of the hunt. In this composition the young lady can probably be identified with the goddess Diana.
