Condition

The illustration is representative for the actual painting. The panel is cradled and seems to consist of three horizontal planks, joins slightly visible to the front. No damages are visible to the naked eye. Discoloured retouchings are visible in the sky and along the upper join. The paint surface is in stable and good condition, but under a discoloured varnish layer. Inspection under UV-light reveals extensive retouchings in the sky; retouchings and strengthening becomes apparent in the figures in the centre, the barges along the quay and the two yachts to the right, as well as minor spots of retouching in the figures in the two rowing boats in the foreground and foliage to the left. Offered in a decorative, gilt wood frame, in good condition. (JD)
