Condition
The catalogue illustration is representative for the actual painting.
The single panel is flat and stable and lightly bevelled on the right and left sides. There is a tiny fleck of paint loss and a surface scratch along the lower edge, and there are a few retouched losses in the upper centre. The paint layer is secure, and is under a slightly dirty and glossy layer of varnish. Inspection under Ultra-Violet light reveals that the sky has been substantially over painted. Furthermore, under UV-light strengthening of the building and figures is visible throughout.
Offered in a late plain gilt wood frame, in fair condition. (MW)
