Description
- A portrait of a young man, standing three-quarter length, wearing a black costume with a white molensteegkraag, holding gloves in his left hand
- oil on panel
Condition
The actual painting is warmer and less bright in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The single panel is flat and stable and bevelled on all sides. An old patch of linnen is attached to the reverse. No damages seem to be apparent and the paint surface seems to be in very good condition. Minor strengthening can be observed in the costume. The paint surface is covered with a dirty layer of varnish, and the craquelure pattern is very fine and dense. The varnish layer fluoresces completely under UV-light. Offered in a decorative wood frame with plaster ornaments, a few chips. (MW)
