Catalogue Note

See note to the previous lot for a discussion of the Martelli numbers and Ottley provenance.  Here the presence of Ottley's own mark adds interest, as does that of Thomas Banks, whose drawings passed to his daughter and then to her two sons-in-law, one of whom was Baron Triqueti.
These drawings are by several hands but all appear to be by artists working in the circle of Michelangelo and may be related to figures in the Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel.
