Condition

Unframed. Hinged at top to mount. There is surface dirt across the sheet, and the margins are rather worn. The lower margin appears to have been cut slightly at the right-hand side, resulting in a small tear, although this may be the irregularity of the sheet rather than damage. A pin-prick hole near the lower left corner. There are various minor stains, but in general, the medium is still strong.

There are records of a church-painter by the name of Hans Pfeiffer, who died in Hamburg in 1700, so it is possible that he may have been the author of this drawing.
