Condition
The canvas is laid down on panel. The corners are slightly worn; very fine craquelure; dark and soiled varnish. Under UV light: very fine touch-ups to the flesh areas.

We are grateful to Dr. Susanne H. Karau for endorsing the attribution on the basis of photographs. Dr. Karau has included this work in her dissertation on the works of Toorenvliet (FU-Berlin, 2002, cat. no. B3). She dates this work to the second half of the 1670s when the artist was living in Vienna.
