first edition, 13 volumes, 4to (215 x 175mm.), engraved additional title and printed title in each volume, dedication leaf "To Lovers of Botany" in volume 1, engraved dedication to Queen Victoria in volume 3, prefaces in all volumes bar 2 and 8 (?issued), 312 hand-coloured engraved plates after Mrs E. Bury, the Misses Maund and others, contemporary green morocco gilt, the covers with a central floral motif, surrounded by foliate border and double fillet borders gilt, gilt turn-ins and edges
