Catalogue Note
a large, uncut copy of bloch's ichthyological masterpiece. The work is famous for Bloch's use of silver to reproduce the sheen of his subjects, as well as for the overall beauty of the illustrations. Bloch adopted a Linnean arrangement as the basis for his work, but went on to establish nineteen new genera and 176 new species.
