the interior and exterior with extensive, probably later, painted decoration, the lid with a central panel painted with ruins and a village in an extensive landscape within a floral frame, with simulated wood grain crossbanding, the lid interior painted with an oval panel depicting a castle within a landscape, flanked by two simple musical trophies, the four and a half octave keyboard, C to f3,with possibly yew naturals and ebony accidentals, double strung throughout, diatonically fretted from c upwards with Es and Bs free except e3 and f3, on integral stand with four fluted partly gilded legs
