Description

  • Printed visiting card signed and inscribed ("Mahler") with a fifteen-line autograph message to a conductor, conceding that he has annoyed him for some time, and that he has been buffeted by the waves of fortune, but that, although life is still tempestuous, he hopes to be able to devote himself to serving those excellent artistic qualities in the recipient which he has always admired ("...Ich bin nur ein wenig auf den Wogen des Lebens umher getrieben und jetzt noch immer auf hoher See...Aber...es gehört mit zu meinen Lebenszielen Ihrer herrlichen Kunst und Meisterschaft zum Sieg zu verhelfen..."), 2 pages, c. 6 x 10 cms, "Kapellmeister Gustav Mahler", some staining
Liszt, Franz. Autograph letter signed ("F. Liszt") to Felix Mottl, suggesting that he sends him the score of his opera Agnes Bernauer, as he plans to perform it at Weimar the following winter, 1 page, 12mo, autograph envelope signed, Weimar, 12 June 1879

Autograph letter signed ("Reger"), to a musician, sending him the performing parts of his String Sextet op. 118, explaining that he does not have a score, though one in small format can be had of Eulenberg, urging him to have the piece performed that winter, and adding that a new string quartet op. 121, in F-sharp minor has just been published by Peters, 2 pages, 4to, Leipzig, 9 September 1911, some splitting at fold

Vuillard herzlichst Bruno Walter New York Februar 1953", c. 24 x 20cms), Alma Mahler-Werfel (with autograph envelope), Saint-Saëns (declining to play the piano in 1911), Ambroise Thomas (2 letters, 1859-1860) and a transcript of part of Wagner's letter to Princess Pauline von Metternich of 21 March 1861
