  • Collection of eighteenth-century Venetian librettos
most for the Oratorio di S. Filippo Neri in Venice, and written by Metastasio, Pasquini and others;  the composers named as Jommelli (Betulia liberata, 1785; Isaaco figura del redentore, 1764), Leo (La Morte di Abele, 1741), Galuppi (Adamo caduto, 1748), Hasse (Il Giuseppe ricnosciuto; I pellegrini, 1755), Durante (S. Antonio di Padua, 1763), Feo (S. Francesco di Sales, 1746), Nicolò Sabbatini, Matteo Bisso, Giovanni Battista Costanzi, Pietro Vincenzo Chiochetti, Ferdinando Bertoni, Ferdinando Turini, Giuseppe Carcani, Pietro Chiarini (Per la festività del santo natale, 1744), Antonio Bergamo, Antonio Gaetano Pampani, Francesco Araya (Il Cleomene, drama per musica, Rome, 1731), and other librettos by Metastasio, including Gioas Rè di Giuda, and Goldoni's L'avventure onorato (1762),

Catalogue Note

Metastasio's libretto Betulia liberata was set by Mozart in 1771.  In the opera libretto from Rome, where the singers are named, all the female roles are taken by castratos.
