about his symphony no.1 in e flat, enquiring what he might do to assist its performance, noting that it has been given with success in Germany and published by Bessel in St. Petersburg, and asking for information regarding his correspondent's institution, its history, its festivals and future plans; in a postscript Borodin supplies his address as "St. Petersbourg, Académie de Medicine, professeur Alexandre Borodine"
