Catalogue Note

Added: the poster of the exhibition "Heimwee naar het hart der dingen" at Dordrechts Museum in Dordrecht and the original easel on which the painting stood for years in the artist's living room.

"Head, dated 1931 is one of the most striking paintings from this period, which is done with resoluteness and directness. It is a spontaneous and exuberant painting.
The searching quality, which characterized much of his earlier work, has now given way to the grit of the pioneer. Ouborg himself also considered it an important painting; for years it stood on an easel (see illustration) in his living room"  From: L. ten Duis and A. Haase, Ouborg, schilder-painter, Eindhoven 1990, p.33.
