Description

the deep U-shaped body rising from a short spreading foot to a gently everted rim, covered overall in a pale green-tinged glaze falling in a neat line short of the solid base to reveal the pinkish-buff body, the base later inscribed in ink with two characters

Chinese Gold, Silver and Porcelain. The Kempe Collection, Asia House Gallery, New York, 1971, cat. no. 71, an exhibition touring the United States and shown also at nine other museums.

Condition

With the exception of: light crazing to the glaze; a tiny glaze pull below the rim on the interior; very light glaze scratches and minor firing and glaze imperfections, the cup is in good overall condition.
