STRUCTURE
The canvas has been relined.
PAINT SURFACE
The paint surface has some ingrained dirt as well as traces of a craquelure pattern, particularly in the sky; otherwise sound.
ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
UV light reveals patches of retouching in the sky and a section of over painting to an old repair, lower left.; also retouching to frame abrasions in the upper half of the work.
FRAME
Held in a plain plaster gilt frame with some loss to moldings.

The canvas has been relined.

The paint surface is clean with traces of a craquelure pattern which is entirely stable.
ULTRAVIOLET
UV reveals a few spots of retouching in the sky, upper left and some further retouching to frame abrasions.

Held in a plaster gilt frame with some chips to the mouldings.
