Description

The fox-tail chain decorated at the ends with two large lapis beads supporting gold tassel fringes, length approximately 44 inches.

Provenance

The Thurn und Taxis Collection, Sotheby's Geneva, November 17, 1992, lot 151.

Condition

Length stated is from the ends of the tassels. The lapis lazuli beads are a deep grayish blue color, with interesting matrix and fleck and veins of pyrite. The chain is very flexible and well made. The snap-on ring allows adjustment to the length of the necklace, and can be removed to allow draping the necklace lariat-style. In good condition.
