Description

  • Van Cleef & Arpels
The stylized dancer with flared skirt formed of gold discs, each inset with a small round ruby, the hem decorated with a ruby fringe, holding a bouquet of ruby-set flowers and wearing a cluster of round rubies in her hair, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered 55228, assay marks, maker's mark.

Condition

Very good condition. The rubies are a lively purplish to pinkish medium red; several examples bear chips and/or cavites, but these are seen only on very close inspection. Maker's mark on reverse of ballerina's skirt: LB bisected by an anchor possibly for Bouissiere. The pendants composing the skirt's fringe move when worn.
