Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to Gubelin report, the pair of star rubies are natural, of Burmese origin, with no indication of heating. Also accompanied by an appendix states that it is rare to have star rubies of this size displaying "a sharp and well-centred asterism, combined with a saturated and homogeneous colour." Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the star rubies have matching colour and outline, of slightly pinkish red colour and clean to naked eyes, with prominent star effect. Under 10x loupe and illumination, there are some fingerprints and hairline fissures on surface on the side, which are very common to natural star ruby and are not seen to naked eyes. Alexandrites set to the hook top have moderate colour-change from bluish green in daylight to purple red in incandescent light, very clean and nice brilliance. Rose-cut diamonds are probably of G to H colours, VS clarity. Condition: Extremely rare to have a matching pair of unheated star rubies in this size, which is almost unheard in the market. Set in an understating but stylish earring mount, in excellent condition.
