EMERALD AND DIAMOND DEVANT DE CORSAGE, SPANISH, MID 17TH CENTURY

Description

Of quatrefoil design, set with foil backed table-cut emeralds and rose-cut diamonds, with two surmounts of stylised foliate and plaque design, similarly set, several small diamonds deficient,  pendant loop to reverse, applied with pink, black and white enamel decoration of floral and acanthus motifs, accompanied by a single ear clip of similar design, later fitted case, part illustrated.

Condition

Mounted in silver and gold. Diamonds bright with several small stones deficient. Several emeralds with abrasions and some chips, typical inclusions visible to the naked eye, some discolouration to foil backing. Two stones very pale in colour, possible paste replacements. Enamel to reverse with cracks, some parts chipped and missing consistent with age and wear. Tarnish visible to the reverse not visible when worn. In overall good condition.
