Description

Of open work scroll design set with circular and oval amethyst and step-cut emeralds, embellished with black and white enamel decoration and half-pearls, suspending three amethyst briolette drops, fitted case.

Condition

Amethyst well matched in colour, with slight variations between the stones, going from a rich purple to a lavender hue. Typical inclusions visible under 10x lens, in the central stone a surface reaching inclusion visible with naked eye. Stones gently worn, with some rubbed facet edges. Emeralds bright and well matched, good colour saturation. Typical inclusions visible under 10x lens, a few visible with naked eye. Most stones gently worn, with rubbed facet edges. Half-pearls well matched in colour and size, contributing to the overall design. Enamel worn and damaged in parts, with metal showing through underneath the bare parts. Open work metal in overall good condition, although some damage is present and the pattern has lost scrolls in a few places. Extensive traces of repair to one section of the jewel, mostly visible to its reverse. The jewel is in good condition considering its age and the apparent wear. Fitted case worn, split at its base and with a broken wooden section to the bottom of the lid and some tears in the lining. Outside worn, with lighter colour showing through especially to the underside.
