The Buddha standing on a waisted pedestal with a flattened lotus on the top, wearing a monastic robe arranged in characteristic wavy pleats, the right hand forming vitarkamudra or the gesture of teaching, the left down by his side, a distinguishing flame finial emerging from his head.

Acquired early 1970's

Condition

The Buddha on its circular pedestal cast separately and insterted into the bronze base with gilt lotus leaves. Accretion overall with some minor areas of stable metal corrosion. All in good condition but with damage and loss to two of the lotus petals above the bronze base. No restoration.
