  • Opaque watercolor heightened with gold on paper
  • image 13 by 8 5/16 in. (33 by 21.9 cm.)
Kedara Raga is usually portrayed as an ascetic playing a lute, either alone or in the company of a disciple or nobleman. The present illustration bears an unusual iconography for this raga, which is identified by inscription above. The male figure seated a lower left, holds a pair of cymbals in his hands and sings verse in adoration of the infant Krishna, the apple of his mother's eye, pictured at center.
