Condition

Executed on thick cream wove paper, not laid down, taped to the overmount along the top edge. There is a circular area with spots of glue residue in place of the dancer's head from a previously affixed piece of collage that has since been lost. There is a line of tape along the reverse of the top edge from a previous mounting, as well as two areas of paper skinning to the reverse of both upper corners. There is a line of glue residue running down the lower left edge, invisible when framed. Apart from some very light time staining to the centre of the sheet, this work is in good condition. Colours: The yellow tones are more pronounced in the original.

The present work was executed as a costume study for the the ballet Tristan Fou, which opened in New York in December 1944, and for which Dalí designed the whole production.
