Canvas has a wax lining. There is thin stable craquelure in several places, notably in the lower third of the composition and in the dark pigments of the picture. There is some rubbing along all four edges due to frame abrasion and some small flecks of frame gilding to the extreme edges. There is a layer of varnish on the surface, which has become dirty with time. Under UV light: the layer of varnish makes the surface difficult to read however there are no apparent signs of inpainting. Overall this work is in good condition and could benefit from cleaning.
