Canvas is lined. Work is in fair condition, having been partially cleaned and restored. We would recommend an assessment by a professional conservator. Areas that have been cleaned are the background around the figure's head and to her right. Around the signature and on the body and fan have been left uncleaned. Under UV light: inpainting is visible in 3 places along the right upper arm and in several places along the yellow sash. There are also two areas of inpainting to the left of the ear, each about 2 inches in legth, and a small area of retouching about the left shoulder. There is also a two inch diameter spot of inpainting extending from the top edge through the end of the signature towards upper right corner. Another two small spots of inpainting between the lower edge of the fan and the lower right corner. Inpainting along all edges due to frame abrasion. Some isolated spots of craquelure appear on figure.
