There is retouching across the sky, also related to the stretcher behind. There is intermittent retouching running down the left edge and to the upper right corner. All retouching is visible under UV light. This work is in fairly good condition. Colours: Overall fairly accurate although the blues are stronger and richer in the original.

Catalogue Note

Sotheby's is delighted to offer the present work and the following lot from the collection of Charles Bluhdorn, the industrialist best known as chairman of the Gulf & Western conglomerate, and his wife Yvette. The Bluhdorns' enthusiasm for the fine arts extended into numerous fields, ranging from 18th and 19th Century French furniture and silver to Impressionist and Modern paintings. Amongst the highlights of the collection were a remarkable and diverse group of works by Albert Marquet, two of which we are delighted to offer for sale.
