Condition
The canvas is not lined. There a 1cm. sq. area of retouching towards the centre of the upper edge with some intermittent pinhead-sized specks of retouching just above it, some further scattered specks towards the upper right corner and two small areas of scattered specks of retouching to the upper left of the pear in the lower right quadrant. There are two small lines of retouching to the centre of the upper left quadrant, several thin lines of retouching to the centre of the left edge and to the lower left corner. There is a thin line of scattered specks of retouching along the lower edge, a 2cm. sq. area of retouching to the centre of the lower left quadrant and some thin areas of retouching to the flowers in the upper left. All retouchings are visible under UV light. Apart from stretcher marks along all four edges with associated lines of stable craquelure and some paint shrinkage mainly to the upper half, this work is in fair condition.
Colours: Overall fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although deeper and more subtle in the original, particularly in the reds.
