- A GILT-BRASS SÈVRES-STYLE PORCELAIN MOUNTED REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH ALARMCIRCA 1860
- height 5¾in. (14.5cm.)
• two train gong striking movement with lever platform escapement, the alarm now acting on a replaced bell • the porcelain dial painted with the numerals, the center with flowers and a butterfly within tooled gilt scrolls on a blue celeste ground, subsidiary alarm dial • the gorge case with side panels depicting a lady and a gentleman within love gardens, the back panel with a boy pouring water from a ewer, and the top inset with an oval panel depicting a young girl, all in 18th century costume • numbered 309 to the movement
Condition
The alarm hammer is missing and the bell is a replacement that will need to be replaced. The bottom plate is missing. There are slight abrasions to the enamel and corrosion to the case throughout. There is a crack in the rear porcelain panel and some missing decorative elements in all panels. The case will require regilding.
