Catalogue Note
Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1952 and sale on November 27th of that year.
Reference 2468 was manufactured for a relatively short period of time between 1949 and 1954. Its flared case shape very closely resembles the more common reference 1593. Indeed, the present model is just 2mm. smaller in length and width than the larger 'Hour-Glass' model.
For an example of Ref. 1593, and a note on Markowski, the firm responsible for this and other iconic case shapes, see lot 186. Both models are referred to as the 'Hour-Glass'.
There have been only approximately 20 yellow gold examples of Ref. 2468 identified from the market. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the present example has been offered at auction.
