Condition
The movement is running, however it may require service soon. The dial is very attractive with some light spotting and aging to the gold indexes and some loss to the pink finish around the edges when the dial has been removed from the case. The hands appear unusual for this model and are likely a replacement from the original thicker hands. The case has been polished lightly and bears some light scuffs throughout. The crown appears to be a replacement. The crystal is raised across the middle.
The strap of this wristwatch is made from an endangered species; please refer to Important Notices for further information.

Catalogue Note
Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production with pink dial in 1938 and sale on December 29th of that year.
Produced for over 25 years starting in 1934, Ref. 425 remains one of Patek Philippe's most well-loved shape wristwatches. Models in pink gold are the rarest to re-appear on the market, the present example being one of about two dozen to be offered at auction. In 1960, it was replaced by the slightly larger Ref. 2461 (see lot 221).
The model is sometimes referred to as the 'Tegolino', which means 'little tile' in Italian. Its successor, Ref. 2461, is referred to as the 'Tegola', which means 'tile'. For a note on Markowski, the firm responsible for this and other iconic case shapes, see lot 186.
