The movement is running, however it may require service soon. It is stamped HOX, indicating that it was made for the American market. The dial has likely been expertly cleaned at some point, and the hard enamel is quite apparent, giving it a very attractive appearance. Under a loupe one can see slight imperfections to the silvering at 5 and 9 o'clock . The case has been polished and shows some slight scuffs throughout. The strap of this wristwatch is made from an endangered species; please refer to Important Notices for more information.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1951 and sale on March 31st of the following year.

Characterized by distinctive scroll-form lugs, Ref. 1491 made its debut in 1940 and was produced for approximately 25 years thereafter.

Models with sweep center seconds, known as Ref. 1491 SC, were introduced in 1943, and originally featured cal. 12SC. In 1949, the movement was updated to cal. 27SC, with which the present lot is fitted.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time the present example has been offered at auction.
