A very nice example. The movement is running, however it may require service soon. The dial is very clean with no visible imperfections. The case bears some surface scuffs, but overall very nice condition, with very nice definition to the faceting on the lugs. The bracelet is slightly stretched and has an overall length of 170 MM.

This model, known as the 'Moon Watch De Luxe', was created in a total of 1,014 examples over a three-year period. It bears the distinction of being the first Speedmaster created in solid 18k gold.

The first 28 examples from this edition were made in 1969 and presented to the astronauts in the Apollo program to honor their achievements that put a man on the moon earlier that summer.

These pieces are distinguished from the rest of the series by the personalized engraving on the case back of each example bearing the astronaut's name, their Apollo mission number, and the phrase 'to mark man's conquest of space with time, through time, on time'.

The present example belongs to the second group of watches produced in this series, identical to those presented to the astronauts, with the exception of the engraving to the case back. Those that were available for civilian purchase bear the engraving 'Omega Speedmaster-Apollo XI 1969: The First Watch Worn on the Moon' on the case back, as well as their number within the limited series.
