  • A FINE AND RARE YELLOW GOLD AND ENAMEL SNUFF BOX CIRCA 1840
  • LENGTH 81.5 MM
• the front cover finely painted on enamel with a river scene, a boat in the back approaching the bridge near the castle, in the forefront a scenery of the mountains, most probably in the area of the Alps near Geneva • the back cover in the same manner with a lake scene, a boat approaching the river entrance, houses and a castle on the right, in the forefront a field with a tree representing, most probably, another view point as the one used on the top lid • the band decorated with four cartouches representing, most probably, different views of the lake of Geneva, outer foliage decoration in green cloisonné enamel • stamped with maker's mark 'LG' on the gold inside

Condition

Enamel panels in a well preserved condition. Some small signs of wear and repair on the green cloisoné enamel. On the whole, a remarkable example of enamel work.
