Description
The combination of Bob Gibson's intimidating demeanor, competitive nature and ferocious fastball made him one of the most dominating pitchers of his era. He seemed to be at his best when the stakes were highest. His stellar 1964, 1967 and 1968 World Series performances made him the toughest pitcher in the Fall Classic since Whitey Ford, and earned him induction into the Hall of Fame in 1981. This Rawlings flannel dates from Gibson's fourth season in the majors. The grey flannel road jersey is completely original and unaltered. Its proper tagging includes his name and year designation stitched on the front tail "Gibson 62" below the manufacturer's tag noting the size "42". The jersey shows excellent game use, with no significant structural flaws. A wonderful early Gibson gamer with superb display quality.
