Description
Vintage exhibit cards are vastly underappreciated for their visual quality, offering large, actual player images that are often unique to their respective issue. Not lost on the diligent engineer of this group was another of their ideal traits - providing a perfect medium for acquiring autographs. Each card has been front-signed by its subject. Slightly more than half of these approximately 3-5/16" x 5 5/16" collectibles bear vintage ink signatures, with the remainder being felt tip and Sharpie examples. The scriptings present "8-10" strength and clarity (averaging "9-10"); the cards are all manila-stock Exhibits (a mix of 1947-66 blank-backs, "Salutations," and "Stat Backs"), produced between the 1940s and 1960s and grading EX to EX/MT with a small number lesser. The attractive, mostly different assembly—which features a number of deceased stars—includes: Aaron (2), Aparicio (2), Appling, Ashburn, Banks, Bauer, Berra, Blackwell, Boudreau (2), Burdette, Cavarretta, Cerv, Dark, Dickey, D. DiMaggio (2), J. DiMaggio, Doby, Doerr, Donovan, Drysdale, Feller, Ford, Gehringer, Greenberg, Henrich, Irvin, Kaline, Kell (2), Keltner, Killebrew (2: different poses), Kiner (2), Koufax, Larsen, Lemon, Lombardi, Marion, W. Marshall, Mathews (2), Mays (2), Mize, D. Mueller, Musial (3: 2 different poses), Newhouser (2), Pafko, Reese, Rizzuto, Roberts (pers.), F. Robinson, Sain, Schoendienst, Skowron, Slaughter (2), Snider, Spahn (2), Thomson, C. Travis (pers.), Vander Meer, B. Williams, T. Williams ("No #9 Showing"), Woodling and Yastrzemski. A vast compilation including most of the great stars of the era. LOA from PSA/DNA.
