Description
With Willie Mays of the Giants and Mickey Mantle of the Yankees, the Dodgers' Duke Snider was one of a trio of Hall of Fame centerfielders about whom fans debated one of the most frequently asked baseball questions of the 1950s: "Who's the best centerfielder in New York?" Snider made his best argument for topping the list in Brooklyn's magical 1955 season when helped lead them to their only World Series title and was named as The Sporting News Player of The Year. This classic Hillerich & Bradsby Duke Snider professional model C117L bat dates from that period and shows evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack that was once secured by tape. Slight tape residue remains. There is some slight discoloration to the finish of the bat which may be a result of moisture. The barrel is covered with numerous ball marks and stitch marks. Also visible are bat rack streaks. The model number (C117L) is stamped into the knob. The extent of visible use and ideal usage era make this is an appealing gamer from the hands of "The Duke of Flatbush". Length: 35". Weight: 33.8 oz. LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA.
