The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting has been mounted onto masonite which is still supported by its original stretcher. There are some areas of the canvas which are slightly loose and the support might need to be changed. There are some fairly visible breaks in the canvas around the head of the standing figure, on the right above and to the left of Christ's head, in his hair and cheek, and in the golden dress of the seated woman. Numerous other breaks and restorations have been applied and while abrasion does not appear to be an issue with this paint layer, numerous structural damages have occurred and there are some very heavy handed restorations associated with these damages. A full and complete restoration will be required.

This painting shows strong affinities with Ludovico's style and may be based on a lost composition by him.
