Condition

Ivory ground. This miniature is in very fine condition. The diamonds are worth approximately £1,200-1,800.

Catalogue Note

Maria was the fourth daughter of General Gordon Forbes, of Skellaten, Aberdeen, and Ham Common, Surrey; she married, as his second wife, James Colyear Dawkins, of Richmond, Surrey. Her siblings, Harriet, Isabella, Sophia and Gordon were also painted by Plimer.
