Catalogue Note

Yehia Yemini, born into a family of silversmiths in Sana in 1897, immigrated to Eretz Israel at the age of three.  He joined the silver department at Bezalel in 1908, where he excelled in blending the traditions of Yemenite silver work with Ze'ev Raban's designs.  Eventually, he established a workshop in his Jerusalem home where he also worked as a Torah scribe. Yemini was the recipient of several awards for his work, including the silver medal in the 1931 Paris World's Exhibition.  He remained active until his death in 1983.
