The crescents of bombé form, one set with 20 cushion-shaped peridots, the other with iolites, bordered by a total of 52 round diamonds weighing approximately 3.75 carats, mounted in 18 karat white and yellow gold, signed Seaman Schepps, numbered 9988 and 9987.
Condition
Good condition with general surface wear. The peridots are lively, medium-light yellowish green and predominantly eye-clean. The iolites are medium-light to medium-deep violet (depending on viewing angle) and eye-clean. The diamonds are approximately G-H-I color, SI clarity.

Catalogue Note
A pair of similar crescent brooches in yellow and blue sapphires are illustrated in Seaman Schepps: A Century of New York Jewelry Design, Amanda Vaill and Janet Zapata, p. 130. The brooches are shown worn by Wanda Toscanini Horowitz for whom the pieces were originally designed.
