Description
Comprising a polished gold cigarette case, Bulgari, the clasp set with a row of calibré-cut sapphires, gross weight approximatley 98 dwts., 6¼ by 1 7/8 inches, signed Bulgari; a gold-plated fountain pen, Cartier, decorated with the figures of two crocodiles, set at either end with a cabochon peridot and a cabochon citrine, signed Cartier, Germany, numbered 126/888, with signed box , rock crystal pen holder and papers; an 18 karat gold and cabochon emerald dress set, comprising a pair of cufflinks and four studs, signed Trianon, and a 14 karat gold cigarette lighter of ribbed design, Dunhill.
Condition
CIGARETTE CASE: In good general condition with scratching to the gold. The sapphires are medium to medium-deep blue and of decorative quality. Signed Bulgari on the interior lip of the base. Numbered (rubbed). Inscribed on the interior of the lid: 'Germaine Love Katy et Sadri, Noel 2001'. PEN: Excellent condition. The light yellow-green peridot and light yellowish orange citrine are eye clean. The nib is 18 karat gold and bears Cartier logo. The top is signed Cartier and numbered 126/888. DRESS SET: Very good condition. The lively, medium slightly bluish green cabochon emeralds are typically included. LIGHTER: In fair condition with general wear and two pinhead-sized dents on one side, one corner bears evidence of a minor impact (not readily apparent). Outer jacket is stamped 14K (fitted onto a metal base). Jacket to the top is loose but secure.

The fountain pen in this lot is part of "The Menagerie signed by Cartier" of unique writing instruments based on the company's tradition of animal-shaped jewels. The present example draws inspiration from the crocodile necklace created for the famous Mexican actress Maria Felix. This edition is limited to 888 individually numbered pieces.
