TWO GEM-SET PORTRAITS OF EYES, CIRCA 1810 AND 1820s

Description

Comprising: a rectangular brooch centring on a portrait miniature of a lady's right eye, with hazel iris, painted on ivory, within a border of oval citrines, the reverse a glazed compartment, later metal pin; together with a brooch centring on an oval miniature depicting a gentleman's left eye, with grey/green iris, painted on ivory, to a gilt metal frame of scallop shells and turquoise cabochons.

Condition

Citrine brooch: eye in good condition with dust and dirt beneath glass, glass heavily abraded, some discolouration to foil on citrines, medium to light yellow, metal pin to reverse, Turquoise brooch: eye, small scratch to underside of glass and right hand rim of glass heavily abraded.
