A CHELSEA PORCELAIN SMALL MELON TUREEN AND A COVER CIRCA 1755

Estimate
8,000 - 12,000 USD
bidding is closed

Description

  • length 3 1/8 in.
  • 7.9 cm
naturalistically modelled with a sprig of blossom forming the knop of the cover. Minor restoration to knop.

Provenance

The Collection of Countess Mona Bismark, sold Sotheby's, Monaco, December 1, 1986, lot 1518 (one of three)

Condition

Although the cover and base are a fairly good match, they have been assembled and, in fact, this cover was photographed on a different base in the illustration for the group lot of three in the sale referenced as Provenance, as was this base with a cover other than the present one. Apparently the three bases and covers were reassembled differently sometime after the sale. The tips of two petals of the floriform knop have a restored chip. Otherwise both cover and base are in good condition
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
