Good condition apart from some gritiness along the top rib forming the handle and along the leaf edge of the cover and some occasional minor pinhead abrasions to the florettes.

A similar example is illustrated by Austin, Chelsea Porcelain, p. 99, no. 90, who notes that "cauliflower tureens and their 'plates' or 'leaves' were listed in both the 1755 and 1756 [Chelsea sale] catalogs, always in sets of two." One of the six pairs listed in the 1755 Sale Catalogue, reprinted ibid. in the Appendix, is described in the Thirteenth Day's Sale, Monday, March 24th, lot 29 as "Two beautiful Colly-flowers and plates." A cauliflower tureen and cover from the Collections of Hanns and Elisabeth Weinberg and the Antique Company of New York was sold in these rooms, Novenber 11, 2006, lot 640.
